Treaty Agreement

The Toronto District School Board has started reading the Treaty Agreement each day in every school to recognize that all the schools are located on First Nations' land.

Valley Park Middle School recorded it this September https://youtu.be/c83yvZRWmkY

Here is the agreement statement.
Treaty Acknowledgement for the Toronto Purchase Area

I would like to acknowledge this school is situated upon traditional territories.
The territories include: the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nations, and the Métis Nation.

As part of the ‘Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant,’ the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Anishinabek and the Allied Nations agree to share and care for the resources on this land in the Great Lakes Region.
I also recognize the enduring presence of Aboriginal Peoples on this land.
