Learning Time Management

How To Be On-Time

Did you get more than a few late slips last year?
Was the teacher always bugging you to hand in over-due work?
Do your parents tell you that your need to hurry up when your family is going somewhere?

Maybe you could use some time management tips to make life easier in Grade 6.

Project 1:  Leaving on-time.
Step One.
List all the things that you need to do before you leave your home in the morning. (waking up, shower, dressing....)

Step Two
Use the stop watch on an electronic device and time how long it takes you to do each thing. Some people take longer to do things like brushing their teeth than other people.  That’s ok.  Don’t rush.  Just take your normal amount of time. Include day-dreaming time if you need it.

Step Three
Add up all the minutes.

Step Four
Ask your parents what time they need you to be ready to leave.  Then, using math, subtract the amount of time it will take for you to do all your things.  Now you know when you need to get started getting ready.

For example, if Mom says she want to leave at 10:00 am and you know that it will take you 80 minutes to get ready, count backwards 80 minutes from 10 o’clock and you will start getting ready at 8:40 am.
