Happy New Year
and may it be a healthy and successful one for everyone!
Language:
We have started a class novel study book called Finders Keepers. This fictional story connects well with what we have been learning in Social Studies. The students each have their own copy of the novel and they are allowed to take it home to read. At home, parents and older siblings are welcome to read it with them. The students will have work to do on each chapter (check our Homework page).
Science:
The students will soon be building their own wind turbines as part of our Energy unit. Please start collecting and bringing to school 2 litre milk/juice cartons and small cardboard boxes.
Math:
We are working on geometry and we will be learning how to sort and describe different triangles by their attributes.
Social Studies:
We are finishing our dioramas about life in Canada before the European Settlers arrived. We will be doing projects on specific European Explorers in the coming weeks.
Health:
Students have been learning how to read the nutrition labels on packages of food and how to use the information to make healthy food choices.
