News From Our Field Trip

Guest bloggers report on our recent trip:

"Our first field trip of the year was a blast! The trip was to an ice hockey game at Ryerson University. The game was between the Ryerson Rams and the Varsity Blues....
We finally got settled into our seats.  We got introduced to the players and the game started.  In about 19 seconds into the game the Ryerson Rams scored.  For the rest of the period nobody scored.  Between the first and second periods they played a game where the mascot had to walk across the ice while handling a puck.  Then the ice machine cleared the ice. The second half of the game began.  You could also get face paint for the team you were cheering for.  The Ryersons also scored another goal.  Between the second and third periods of the game, the Ryerson figure skaters came out and skated while "Let It Go" played.  The science team was also there and did an experiment.  No one scored after that. Then the game ended and we took the subway and bus back to school..."

"It was my first time ever going to a hockey trip and my mom was with me for the first time ever.  When we were getting inside the bus there were 3 classes on a bus and it was so loud.  I could not hear what A--- was saying.
To be honest the stadium was pretty loud and even the TV screen [ ] said, "Get louder!"  I think they were doing this because to make the Ryerson team work harder.  The large TV showed lots of classes including mine.
After a while, I [asked] my mom, "Can you bring me some popcorn for me?"
She said, "Sure."
So actually, my mom paid [ ] but it took her so long to get the popcorn that I ate some Oreo cookies during the waiting time.
The hockey game I saw was amazing. I think that the Ryerson team played very good and the U of T had missed lots of good chances but they could not do it. This is what I saw in my experience."

" Ms Halliwell's class and the rest of the Grade 5 and 4 classes ... went on a field trip ... to Ryerson University to watch a female hockey match between Ryerson University and the University of Toronto.
When we got there we met two mascots named Eggy (the Ram) and BMO (the bear).  There were many other schools other than  TPPS.  After we took our seats the national anthem began and the whole place had to stand up and it was both in English and French.  I was pretty confused.  The game started after the national anthem.  Ryerson University scored a point right away in the first period and everyone except the Toronto fans cheered intensely!  When about half of the first period was over face painting activities started and everyone rushed in line to get their faces painted.  After the first period was over, the mascot race started and all the mascots had to dodge pylons and then try to shoot in the net.  Slapshot (the beaver) and Eggy, both got a goal.  But BMO was too slow to get a goal..."
