Messing with the digestive system

This week in science we got messy acting out the process of digestion.  Students played different parts of the digestive system as they "digested" a pretend molecule of food.  It was a lot of fun!
The teeth tearing apart the food and the mouth adding saliva.

After it goes down the esophagus, digestive juices are added whilst the stomach squeezes the food.

After the nutrients (a bag of candy) are removed in the small intestine, the large intestine absorbs the extra moisture.  Then it's off to the rectum and then toilet.

The small intestine gave all the "cells" of the body (the participants in this drama) a "nutrient."
