Reflex Reaction

In science, we are learning about the central nervous system and experimenting with our reflexes.  The students worked with a partner to test their reflexes by dropping a metre stick and having their partner catch it as quickly as possible.  The students did this five times.

Then they used math to find the median distance (the middle of their data).  The median distance was converted to reaction time in seconds.  5F's median reaction time was 0.30 seconds!  Amazing!

We discussed why people need fast reflexes and the students listed:
- escaping from danger
- playing sports
- driving
- playing video games
